Queer European Cinema

In the films of New Queer Cinema, the protagonists and narratives were predominantly LGBT, but were presented invariably as outsiders and renegades from the rules of conventional society, and embraced radical and unconventional gender roles and ways of life, frequently casting themselves as outlaws or fugitives.

What is surprising in our featured movis ist the fact, that queer comes as usual. A huge step into equality of life.
We will introduce Hide and seek, Amor Eterno and Lichtes Meer.

Amor Eterno takes place in the Horror Genre. In the Cruising zone you do not always get easy sex – somethimes a darkness apears…
Rosi Kröll had an Interview with Marçal Forés, the director und Vicente de la Torre, the author of the skript. They did the movie almost in half a year. A quiete intense but nice experiment for both of them. They talk about their interesst in the cruising zone for the movie, the gay szene, low budget – get your frinds as actors and a musician from usa also takes part in the movie for some arranged concerts. All in all it is a lovestory – still.

Lichtes Meer – Eine romantische Coming-of-Age-Reise über das Meer, ein maritimer Jungstraum über die Liebe unter den Bedingungen der modernen Frachtschifffahrt. Stefan Butzmühlen erzählt in Interview über die Bedingungen in der Modernen Schiffahrt, die Wahl der Schauspieler und die Lovestory – natürlich. Ein Beitrag von Rosi Kröll

Hide and Seek – A modern fairy tale, that follows four young people who flee from London and set up in a polyamorous commune in the country, choosing total isolation as a form of emotional, intellectual, and political hiding place. Strange rules and rituals help to loosen their inhibitions as, fighting cynicism and ghosts from the past, they move towards a deeply unconventional joy. HIDE AND SEEK puts forward the controversial idea of retreat as protest; the characters hope to find a new spiritual and sexual truth rather than accepting other generation’s morals. Using a stately, meditative tone to temper or increase the provocation, the film uncovers a new way to express feelings of loneliness, kinship, fear and joy but also with a lot of happiness.

Michael Diesenreither did an interview with Joanna Coates, the director of the film and Daniel Metz, who is the producer of the film and one of the four main actors. Both wrote the script together.
