Diskussion zur Rolle polyethnischer Medien in den heutigen Gesellschaften, ihre notwendigen Rahmenbedingungen und ihr Beitrag für Integration und Verständigung. Ein Beitrag von Radio FRO soll das Feld "der Anderen" in der Mikrokultur von Linz im Kontext des Konzeptes einer polyethnischer Medienlandschaft beleuchten.

Eine Auseinandersetzung mit der gegenwärtigen Integrations- und Migrationspolitik auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene. Die viel zitierte Festung Europa wird zunehmend vom Schlagwort zur politischen Gewissheit. Kaum ein europäisches Land, das nicht an der Verschärfung der Einwanderungspolitik arbeitet oder bereits härtere Maßnahmen gegen MigrantInnen beschlossen hat. Unter dem Deckmantel der Integration (etwa verpflichtete Deutschkurse) wird zunehmend der Druck auch für jene stärker, die bereits mehr oder weniger Teil unserer Gesellschaften geworden sind.

A project by Radio FRO in cooperation with the ARS ELCTRONICA FESTIVAL 2002.

This conference focuses on the sources of friction and points of interface within a polyethnic society. The aim is to point out alternatives to the one-dimensional "forced integration discussion" that are also currently being advanced on the EU level. Radio FRO's contribution to the festival is an analysis of the political and scientific aspects and context of migration, integration and the opportunities of a polyethnical media landscape.

Debate on the role of polyethnical media in today's societies, their necessary framework conditions and their contribution to integration and understanding. Opportunities, structures as well as lines of conflict will be elaborated on by a research project on Radio FRO's foreign-language programming. Radio FRO's contribution sheds light on "the others" in the microculture of Linz and in the context of the concept of a polyethnic media landscape.

Debate on the current migration policy It is evident that immigration and asylum policies are being made more restrictive all over Europe. Integration measures are increasingly becoming compulsory procedures-consider, for example, "language courses for foreigners." Aside from regional and national political debates and approaches, the international and European dimensions of this issue are increasingly shifting into the foreground.
